July 2020 Yoga Calendar - SHIFT

Here is your Yoga With Adriene Free monthly Yoga calendar! No gimmicks, no catch. This is an offering to help you get on the mat regularly to cultivate balance and wellbeing. If you are intuiting that you might benefit from a regular and sustainable at home yoga practice - look no further.

If this is your first time joining us, welcome!

Each month, we come together as a community around a theme that inspires questions and guides intention for your practice both on and off the mat.

The practices selected support your exploration of the theme, whether you are taking on the whole month or dropping in for a single whenever you like.

The practices on the calendar are free and are all available on the Yoga With Adriene YouTube channel. When we include membership practices on the calendar, they are noted as FWFG practices and we also include alternate free YouTube practices on those days for those who are not members.

This month’s free offering is an invitation to explore and nurture a SHIFT.

Many of the practices on the calendar this month will offer you the opportunity to not only move your body and shift your energy - but also to see the practice itself through a different lens.

What does it mean to shift? Is it something you feel? Does it require discipline?

Growth requires a willingness.

Our at home yoga practice offers us the opportunity to surrender, to show up, to get down and get honest. Our regular practice is the safe place to make meaningful discovery.

And, it can be joyful too. This month’s curation will put you in the shoes of the skater, the surfer, the horseback rider. It may flip you upside down, shift to another perspective, change the channel and tend to the weight on your shoulders - which might be causing that ache in your back.

This month, I invite you to drop preconceived notions in your practice,  and focus on your willingness to make new discoveries and new truths.

Why is a practice of growing your own awareness and one’s ability to shift gears and change perspective important?

The world is inviting us to take a hard look and apply ourselves as both individuals and as a collective.

Our mental and physical health, along with our emotional wellbeing is taxed, with only signs of it becoming harder and harder to stay in good health.

Please use this free yoga calendar and this opportunity to commit to your own wellbeing. Prioritize this time for contemplation, moving meditation, strengthening, restoration, and exploration.

For when you are well and showing up to do the inner work,  a bigger shift begins to rumble.

Remember, the breath always comes first.

Invite someone to join you! Drop in throughout the month or join us for the whole month.

Share your experiences with the Kula and the community with #ywaSHIFT.

Be sure to subscribe to the Yoga With Adriene YouTube channel, if you haven’t already! This is the #1 way to support the YWA free calendar and the new free YouTube videos.

Thank you fot your inspiring work and the enormous effort you make to encourage our yoga practice. Truly your gift to this world at this abyss of human development. What we do next ......

  5. Hi Adriene,
At the start of 2020 I came with you on the mat, very difficult for me, I never had done yoga before... Then I had some personal issues and stopped practicing. I did keep on reading your letters though, which gave me the will to start all over again, but I did not have the courage yet...
This time, I really want to restart! So I just wanted to thank you for your inspiration and coming back every time in your letters.
Please keep safe and healthy, I will do so here in Belgium.

  6. Hi Adrien,
I started your 30-day Yoga Challenge on the first day of lock-down here in the UK, 14 weeks ago and I have done 101 consecutive mornings of your different 30-day yoga programs.
I have done very little yoga beforehand, when I was pregnant with my (now mid 20’s) children so felt stiff albeit I’m an avid tennis player.
I totally love your yoga! It’s so easy to follow your instructions whilst keeping your mind on the moves and I know I will continue following your yoga programs for years to come!
    Thank you!

  7. Hi my name is Linda and I have only recently found your website since we went into lockdown. I Love it !!!! But I feel when I look at the calendars and how much is on the website that I have so much to catch up on ! I don't know if I'm overthinking everything but I'm doing it every day and wanted to really know what is the best time of day to be practising to get the most out of it ? I know you can't answer questions from everyone but would you possibly give an indication in your letter next week as to how best to do things should I work through the past calenders to get a better understanding or just contine on the calenders where you are now ? Thank you x

    1. Welcome, Linda! Please feel free to jump into the current calendar with us. There is no need to backtrack and complete all the previous calendars. Unless there is a past calendar that speaks to you, then by all means, please substitute that calendar for the current month and follow that instead; otherwise, just join in on the current calendar. As for the time of day, the best time of day to practice is when it fits your body and schedule the best so that you can be consistent in your practice. 🙂

    2. I've been an avid YWA follower for a little over a year now. She usually recommends practicing in the morning, before the chores and troubles of the day set in, and so you have a chance to set intentions for your day. Cheers!

  8. My dearest Adriene
You are the bright ray of light
In the this world of darkness we are living in at this time
    Stay safe

    With love

  12. Good morning Adrienne, it nice to laught at you silly little comments that start our day . my daughter ginger and martina my mum

  13. I have been doing YWA for 3 years now. When everyone I knew was doing yoga I wanted no part of it thinking it was a trend. But thanks to you Adriene, it has changed my life! I am so grateful that I can do yoga everyday in the comfort of my home. I SO appreciate and love your beautiful insight on life, your awesome music and movie references and the fun bloopers on your videos! You're a piece of sunshine! Thank you for being you!

  14. what a teacher. what a community. what a beautiful little world. adriene, thank you for your warmth, leadership, humor and guidance. everyone else -- thank you for sharing these practices. no in-person yoga class has given me the same sense of community and nurture. I love you all -- wishing you warmth, wellness, and tender and deliberate action these days. peace, love, n power! -P

  15. I echo what Cathy shares - you are a ray of light. I have just completed the 30 Day "True" series - my first step into the journey that Yoga offers. I am so grateful to have found you. And the mat. And even the resistance I feel coming to my practice. Thank you for being such an amazing guide. Finding you has been a gift of COVID19.

  16. My Dear Adrienne.

Thank you for inspiring each day. Each day I look forward to a new journey on the yoga mat with you. The email I get each morning is one of my highlights of the day.

    Keep on the good work

  17. Adriene,

I want to thank you for all that you do. You have positively touched my life and I cannot thank you enough for that. You are such a beautiful person and you give so much and care so deeply for others. I'm sure it's taxing at times, so please remember to take care of yourself, as well. I meet you on the mat everyday and I always look forward to your love letters.

I love you and appreciate you so much, Adriene.

  18. Adrianne,
Thank you for giving me yoga at home! I love your warmth, your humor, and I appreciate how genuine you are. Take care of yourself. I am a kindergarten teacher who just retired after 37 years of teaching in our public schools. I look forward to my practice with you everyday.
    Thank you so much!

  19. Thank you Adrienne for this month's practice. The month starts perfectly as my birthday is the 1st and I will be transitioning into my 50th year. The practices you chose always seem to correspond perfectly. I'm sure I am not the only one. Take care and thank you once again.

  20. Lets hope that the state of darkness we are in currently will lead us to re evaluate ourselves both inwardly and as a society. Covid 19 has thought us the fragility of human life and that power, wealth, status or position cannot protect us from a microscopic virus. As we look inwardly at our selves and our lives and realise how little we actually need in life and how much of our selves we may have devoted to acquisition and wants.

Let us now turn to a simpler life about family and community. Let us become a society that values and cherishes the natural world around us. Let us protect the environment and halt the global destruction of natural resources. Let us stop destroying our land, air and oceans with rubbish and toxic chemicals. Let us value the animals, fish and insects that share this world with us and let us stop destroying their precious habitats and forcing some to live unnatural lives in factory farms or cages just to assuage our appetite.

Let us take the lessons of the past months and value each other, our families, friends and communities. Let us treat the world we live in and all who share it with us, human, animal and vegetation with the dignity, respect and kindness that our world deserves.

  21. Dear Adriene,

I normally get a lot of headaches. During lockdown, I started doing your 30 day yoga journeys, one after the other - I've now done 80 days of yoga without a break, and my headaches have almost entirely stopped. It's been a wonderful change and developing a daily yoga habit has been the best thing to happen to me during this strange time. Thank you!

  22. I loved the live stream, I loved that we could share raw yoga with all that being human is. Thank you Adriene and team for being here and consistent. I hope all can stay safe on all levels in these shifting times.

  23. I love what you do for people. Thank you Adriene and team. Stay safe.

    Love from India.

  24. Good morning Adrienne,
Thank you for inspiring us with your positivity. I have never been able to do a head stand. I may have to adapt at 62 May be a bit late to start. Lots of other positive exercises to choose.
    Peace and light. Keep safe

  25. Thank you, Adriene! I know I am not the first to say it (nor will I be the last), but spending time with you yoga-ing 🙂 has made such a lovely impact on my life. Thank you for sharing your gifts of gentleness, mindfulness, and humor with all of us. You make a difference. Peace.

  26. Are the classes live? I have been following Adrienne for two years now and just randomly choose her classes available on youtube. I would like to do live classes.

  27. I must confess, seeing the head stand day makes me nervous, it is one of my goals, along with crow pose, but I am so far from being able to do it that a day dedicated to it makes me a bit scared.

  28. I have been doing yoga with Adriene off and on for about 5 years. Who knew that the key to weathering a pandemic could be found on the mat EVERY DAY lol! I even have my boyfriend joining me. Thank you Adriene for being you. Namaste

  29. Thank you very much Adrienne , you always make me feel better and strong when I am not... smile and cry at the same with your words...
I highly recommend you to everything person I know , you are the best and no wonder why many people love you

  30. Dear Adriene,

I have found a new passion in doing yoga on the mat with you as a most reassuring guide, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am stronger both physically and mentally, I'm so glad I found you during this trying time. Thank you xxxx

  31. It's just the fresh start of July but the practises I have done within the SHIFT calendar were awesome. I am about to confess I have felt in love with the way Adriene conducts the practises; so kind, soft, lovely, adorable, etc, etc, etc... there are so many adjectives to put here I could only say [in summary] I love everything about her character. I hope one day I could get the opportunity to do a live, face-to-face, yoga class with her. Keep the awesome work. Congratulations to everyone involved. Namaste ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

  32. adriene, thank you. i have fallen in love with your videos and you have guided me back to what matters more times than i can count.

i have a selfish request. im not sure where to contact you or your team directly, and I know you can't read every email and comment. so here's a shot.

is there a way we could get some of the videos uploaded into an audio format, possibly in the form of a podcast?

I know, like you don't do enough already.

The story is, I don't have access to internet strong enough to stream a video, and i have enough mobile phone data for one video a month. It's not your problem, but i don't think im the only person in the world who'd be grateful for a lighter data usage format. just a recording of your already posted videos, doesn't have to be anything new.
i miss doing yoga, i miss you! I've tried it on my own, but really, we all know its not the same without your voice!

    with much love and hope

  33. Dear Adriene,

Thank you so much. Thank you - from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Just know you gave me light when I needed help out of the dark.

One question: will you be bringing back the weekly new YouTube uploads? I hope to see these again because your weekly uploads were an irreplaceable part of my week.

    Stay safe. Love always xx,

  34. Hey Adriene, I just want to say thank you for helping me discover the benefits of yoga.
Thank you for helping me go through the difficult Covid-19 quarantine times. Keep up the great work you are doing!

  35. Hola Adriane,

  36. I love your incorporation of themes as well as targeting. Have you done targeting the neck. I teach yoga to many divers at a dive resort and the divers often complain of neck pain looking up when diving, so I would be interested to see the ways you handle this. Much Love

  37. I consider Adrienne's practice a "work-in" instead of a "work-out". Her soothing voice, empahsis on form and deliberate and controlled movements made me a better runner, and writer. The focus she gives me directs me all day long. Now my whole social circle is on baord. She has a rare gift that keeps on giving. I can't thank her enough.
